Portland Faith Communities

In 2010 The Mentoring Project began conducting mentor-training sessions in our hometown of Portland, Oregon. This was the just the beginning of our campaign to help faith communities end the waiting list for 1000 boys growing up without fathers. Partnering with multiple faith communities, several matching organizations, and other members of the community, our desire is to be the catalyst for hundreds of faith communities in the Portland Metro area to make a positive impact on our community, changing the lives of many fatherless youth. We are asking faith communities in Portland to come alongside us in order to help reach out to the 1,000 boys waiting for mentors.

If you part of a church in Portland, please fill out the Portland churches form.

If you are from outside the Portland area, you can help us end the list by sponsoring a mentor.

National Churches

If you are on a leadership team or the pastoral staff of a church outside of Portland, we want you to be involved!

We support your effort to end the waiting list for mentors in your city. That starts with building a mentoring program at your individual faith community with our Toolkit. The toolkit provides everything necessary for your faith community to build a sustainable group of mentors.

If you are interested in more information, please fill out our national churches form.

Organizations

If you are an organization and are interested in partnering with The Mentoring Project or simply want more information, please continue reading!

While TMP’s primary focus is to provide mentors by working in, with, and through faith communities to build sustainable mentoring communities, we also desire to partner with other organizations that share the same heart for our mission to care for the fatherless in America.

If you are interested in potentially partnering with us, please fill out our ORGANIZATION FORM.

End the List in Your City

A TMP National City Conversation is a collaborative effort of multiple churches and/or organizations in a given city working together to address the issue of fatherlessness in their communities. Together, the goal is to work toward providing mentors for a large number of children, either through matching agencies, school districts or even within neighborhoods surrounding local churches.

To receive more information about ending the waiting list for mentors in your city, fill out the City Conversation Form.

Become a Mentor

We want to thank you for taking the time to visit our site and for your interest in mentoring. We would love to invite you to join us in our mission and to be involved as much as possible in ending the waiting list for mentors. In order to do this in the most efficient way possible, we have created a model that works in, with, and through faith communities.

If you are an individual that desires to be involved in mentoring, and are part of a faith community, we would first encourage you to approach your pastoral staff or the leadership of your faith community about your faith community’s possible involvement with The Mentoring Project. If you have any questions or would like to request further information from us, please email info@thementoringproject.org.

If you are an individual that is not a part of a faith community, please know that we desire to partner with you as well. If you have are able to get connected with a faith community in your area, we would encourage you to start there. If however, you are not able to get connected, we would still encourage you to become active in mentoring by contacting a local matching agency such as Big Brothers Big Sisters directly. If you have any questions please email info@thementoringproject.org.
